Mike Anderson

 

WIDE RUINS — Funeral services for Mike Anderson, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Klagetoh. Burial will be at Wide Ruins Community Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

Anderson died Oct. 8, 2011, in Wide Ruins. He was born Nov. 20, 1941, in Pine Springs, Ariz., into the Edge of Water People Clan born for the Big Water People Clan.

Anderson was retired from the BIA government schools of Wide Ruins Boarding School and Greasewood Boarding School. He graduated from Window Rock High School. Anderson enjoyed hard labor work, singing and laughing.

Survivors include his wife Marie Billy Anderson; sons Roddy Anderson, Ronald Anderson, Leander Anderson, Tracy R. Anderson and Merle Anderson; brother John Dick, of Fort Defiance; sister Elouise Parker, of Chambers, and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Dick and Maggie Lee; son Gary Anderson; brother Jerry A. Lee Sr. and sisters Mable Ike and Marie Parker.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Wide Ruins Chapter House following the services.

Tse Bonito is in charge of arrangements.

Carmen Nez

TOHATCHI — Funeral services for Carmen Dennison Nez, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the United Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Harry Plummer Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at Tohatchi Community Cemetery.

Nez was born May, 23, 1939, in Tohatchi into the Towering House People Clan born for the Folded Arms People Clan.

Nez attended Tohatchi Boarding School and Chemawa Indian School. She enjoyed beading, sewing, playing cards, going to the casino, Country Western dances, attending social events, going to church and watching Sunday football and WWE Raw.

Survivors include her sons Lawrence Etsitty, of Naschitti, Emmanuel Nez, of Española, and Manuel Nez, of Rock Springs; daughters Carmelita Nez, Mandy Nez and Candee Nez-Jim, of Tohatchi, and Vangie Nez-Yazzie, of Blackhat; brothers Micheal Etsitty, of Mexican Springs, Herbert Dennison, of Tohatchi, and Herman Dennison, of Elko, Nev.; sisters Beverly Etsitty, of Navajo, N.M., Dianna Norton and Mary Tsinnie, of Tohatchi, Elizabeth Chavez, of Salt Lake City, and Pauline Rose Thompson, of Gallup; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eddie Belin Nez; parents Arkie Dennison, Delores Dezbah Etsitty and Clifford Etsitty; sister LouElla Dennison Thompson and son Edward Nez.
Pallbearers will be Thomason Long, Brent J. Crowe, Jesse White, Gerald Jim, J.P. Duboise, David Eastridge, Donovan Norton and Darnell Etsitty.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Tohatchi Chapter House.

Pfc. Anthony R. Secatero

TOHAJILEE — Services for Pfc. Anthony R. Secatero, 24, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE Albuquerque. The Rev. Tom Willeto Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Secatero died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in Fort Hood, Texas. He was born Dec. 9, 1987, in Albuquerque.

Survivors include his parents Jimmy Secatero Sr. and Imogene Francisco; brothers James Secatero, Mark Secatero and Jimmy Secatero Jr.; and sisters Renee Secatero and Shamenika Francisco. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Henery Francisco Sr. and great-grandmother Helen C. Platero.

The family wil receive relatives and friends at Veterans Memorial, 1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE Albuquerque.
